Subject: Health District Moses Lake Column Replacement
Dear BOCC,
The Health District Building in Moses Lake has three laminated wood columns failing on the ends from
water and weather exposure. This problem was discussed with Stans Construction when the sidingand
soffit, and painting project was started last year. Stans d
y due to having the soffit removed and evaluating
the roof structure of that area, was able to find a solution to prolong the life of the existing roof trusses
and provide support for them.
This plan would remove the deteriorated ends and cut the upper horizontal trusses back under the roofli
ne
to protect them. The concrete under the roof would be cut to fit new footings to support three new vertical
pressure -treated wood posts to support the three roof trusses. The new columns would be encased and
trimmed to match the rest of the exterior of the building.
Stan's Construction provided a quote of $9073.08 to do this work, and I would like to issue a change
order as part of the Exterior Renovation Project for Stans to g
� do this project. The costs of this project
would be funded from Reet .1 capital funds for GCHD column replacement, account number
126.168.00.9112.594186210, which has available funds of $12,500.
Therefore, I am requesting permission from the Grant County Board of Commissioners tris hange
order to Stans Construction for $9073.08 to proceed with this project.
