In the 2021 Facilities and Maintenance operating expense account 001.112.00.0000.51 83 04800
(Repairs -Maintenance) was budgeted for $87,000. This account is for unplanned repairs that may
occur during the fiscal year. This account currently is $92,165.52 overspent with an additional
expense of $4,667.20 yet to be accrued. That would be bring the total overage for the account to
be $96,832.72.
A large part of the overspend this year was a catastrophic failure of the incoming water line that
supplies the Courthouse and Annex and then a collapsed roof drainpipe on the Annex that
flooded the crawl spaces under them. This resulted in the damage to the work on a previous
project to encapsulate contaminated soils in those spaces. Working with abatement professionals
and the insurance company it was decided that removal of the contaminated soils was the best
course of action to prevent this in the future.
The lowest bid to do the project was $101,184.90. The project was completed August 20th , 2021.
The project cost was then paid from the Facilities and Maintenance Account
001.112.00.0000.5183 048001, referenced in the first paragraph.
The cost of the project was then conveyed to Grant Count 's insurance carrier, WRCIP, who
issued a check in the amount of $91,184.90, covering the cost of theproject minus the $105000
deductible that Grant County is responsible for.
Therefore, I am asking the Grant County Board of Commissioners for a budget extension in the
amount of $96,832.72 from current expense.to the Facilities and Maintenance Account
001.112.00.0000.518304800, Repairs -Maintenance. This budget extension would take into
consideration the insurance re -imbursement of $91, 184.90 and a current overspend of $4667.20
of the account I am requesting the budget extension for.
