ORDINANCE No. 21- Id 0 -CC
AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO COMMISSIONER
DISTRICTS, ADOPTING A REDISTRICTING PLAN
PURSUANT TO THE 2020 FEDERAL DECENNIAL
CENSUS, AMENDING CHAPTER 1.08 GCC, AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
RECITALS:
WHEREAS, on or about October 19, 2021, Grant County received updated information
from the State Redistricting Commission concerningcount population base
Y p p don the 2020
decennial federal census; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 29A.76, et seq., Grant County is required to prepare
a plan
for redistricting its commissioner districts within eight months after receipt of fe
p deral decennial
census data; and
WHEREAS, the plan prepared by Grant County complies with the followingrequirements
q ments
as set forth in RCW 29A.76.010, to wit:
(a) Each district is as compact as possible;
(b) Each district consists of a geographically contiguous area;
(c) Population data was not used for purposes of favoring or disfavoring any racial group
or political party;
(d) To the extent feasible, district boundaries coincide with existingrecognized g d natural
boundaries and, to the extent possible, preserve existingcommunities of related
interest; and
and mutual
(e) Each commissioner district is as nearly equal in population as possible to each and every
other such district given considerations as set forth in the four preceding provisions.
WHEREAS, Grant County has conducted a duly advertised public hearing, an

received public testimony and comment; and
WHEREAS, the Grant County Board of County Commissioners has reviewed available
information, the public comment and testimony, and finds that the redistricting1
plant best meets
the criteria set forth in RCW 29A.76, et seq., for redistricting of commissioner districts Wl

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY ORDAINED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Grant County, State of Washington, that Chapter 1.08. of the Grant County
Code (GCC) be amended and is hereby amended as follows:
Section 1. Commissioner District No. 1 as set forth in Chapter 1.08.010 GCC is amended as
follows, and shall include the area encompassed by the boundaries set forth below:
