Board of County Commissioners 12/3/2021
Re: Fm2111 YS Moses Lake and FM2112 Health District Moses Lake
Dear Board of County Commissioners.
This year's Capital budget included projects to refurbish the exteriors of the Grant County Facilities
located at 1008 and 103 8 Ivy St in Moses Lake. (Youth Service and the Health District, respectively).
The buildings are coated with lead-based paints on the wood surfaces and have vinyl siding, becoming
brittle due to age.
The scope of project Fm2111 and FM2112 to renovate the exteriors of these buildings included replacing
the vinyl siding with HardiPlank lap siding, replacing the vinyl soffit with aluminum soffit, and any
repair, prepping and coating of the existing window frames and the remaining wood surfaces.
The Health District building has been completed and the Youth Services building is near completion
except for the soffit J channel, which is on back order. The contractor was able to temporarily hang the
new soffit without the J channel but will install the J channel when it arrives.
Therefore, I am recommending to the Grant County Board of Commissioners that the County pay Stan's
Construction, $117,755.28 for the completed work and hold the $11,967.00 retainage until completion of
the project. This would allow the majority of the project's cost to be accrued on the 2021 budget and then
the retainage would carry over to the 2022 fiscal year budget.
Sincerely,
