RESOLUTION SETTING LAND CLASSIFICATION RESOLUTION No. 21- Id'5 -CC
AND ASSESSMENTS FOR FUNDING THE 2022
BUDGET OF THE GRANT COUNTY NOXIOUS
WEED BOARD
WHEREAS, The Grant County Noxious Weed Control Board has requested the Board of
County Commissioners to determine the assessments for funding the 2022 budget of the Grant
County Noxious Weed Control Board; and
WHEREAS, a Public Hearing was held on December 6, 2021 at 8:3 0 a.m. at which time
taxpayers were allowed to appear and be heard; and
WHEREAS, after discussion a decision was made by the Commissioners to set the land
classifications and assessments as follows:
Irrigated Cropland 23 cents per acre
Dryland 09 cents per acre
Range/Scabland 06 cents per acre
Minimum Parcels $14.00 per parcel
WHEREAS, the Board finds that the control of weeds is a special benefit to the lands within
the district and the special benefits provided by the Weed Board and the Weed Board assessment
above stated is a special benefit to the land within the District set forth in the assessment and that
they should be levied.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that the above assessments shall be
levied on the above classification and the Assessor shall spread the levy on the rolls and collect the
same.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of December, 2021.
EFFECTIVE the 1 st day of January, 2022.

SUBJECT: Proposed Assessment Rates
Dear Commissioners:
Assessment rates for the Noxious Weed Control Board of Grant County were last increased in
2012. We believe that current funding levels have been extended`as long as possble, and find it
necessary to request a rate increase to be effective in 2022. Our ending fund balance was over
$55,000 less in 2020 than 2019, and this trend is expected to continue at current assessment
rates.
Funding from current assessment rates has lasted longer than anticipated, due in part to o erato
ing
with less than a fall staff for several of the past ten years. We have now operated with a full staff
since February of 2019. We have incurred additional expenses that have affected our budget as
well, including the Grant County services fee,* new to us in 2018, that
through 2 has cost a total of $118,000

After much consideration, the Noxious Weed Control Board of Grant County requests that the
Board of County Commissioners consider the following proposed changes to assessment rates.
