Dear County Commissioners,
Resolution #20 -089 -CC identified that Grant County establish an Abatement Fund to
assist in cleaning up properties that are out of code enforcement compliance. The
resolution also established that Grant County Public Works would transfer $0.85 per ton
of municipal solid waste each quarter to the Abatement fund. The Accounting
Department was not made aware that a new fund was needed or that there was a
requirement to transfer funds from Grant County Public Works. Grant County Public
Works did not begin collecting the additional tipping fee until early 2021.
In March of 2021, Grant County Public Works began collecting an additional $1.00
tipping fee; $0.15 per ton of which is to be distributed to Grant County Health District to
provide additional funding for their solid waste activities and the other $0.85 per ton is to
be transferred to the Abatement Fund.
I am requesting authorization to establish new fund #150.000 — GC Abatement Fund.
Grant County Public Works has provided the amounts to be paid to Grant County Health
District as well as the amount to be transferred to the Abatement Fund for the period from
March 1, 2021 to November 30, 2021. We will work with Grant County Public Works to
establish a process to ensure that timely payment is made to Grant County Health District
and the transfer to the Abatement Fund is completed regularly.
Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.
Regards,
