It is our understanding that the existing ridge web to top -chord connections have failed at eleven of the building's south wood roof trusses. The purpose of our involvement is to determine the cause of the failed connections, prepare a letter describing observed damage and the cause of the failure, and design a connection repair detail. STRUCTURAL SCOPE OF WORK We anticipate providing structural engineering services as follows: • One site visit to gather field information (completed). • A follow-up letter describing observed truss damage and opinion of probable cause. • Design, calculation and preparation of hand drafted truss connection repair details. Excluded from the scope of work are: • Additional site visits • Construction phase engineering assistance (unless requested under a separate agreement) • Construction means, methods or techniques, and safety measures, precautions or programs at the project site. I SCHEDULE It is our understanding that an event is scheduled to be held in the 4H building in late March and truss repair work will need to be complete prior to the event. Timely completion of the repair drawings will be important to maintaining the event schedule. We anticipate a two-week turnaround to complete the follow-up letter and repair drawings after receiving authorization to proceed. February 7, 2022 Mark Neal Structural Engineering Fee Proposal PROPOSED FEE Payments for services will be on a time and expense basis in accordance with the attached fee schedule. We propose a fee of $5,800 to provide the engineering services described above. Please refer to footnotes for clarification. STRUCTURAL FEE PROPOSAL DESCRIPTION PROPOSED FEE Engineering Services $5,800 FOOTNOTES 1 Construction Phase services are not included in this proposal. If authorized by the client, Pacific will provide these services on a time and expense basis. Work will be invoiced utilizing the fee schedule current to the year in which services are performed. Our 2022 Fee Schedule is attached. Construction Phase services include shop drawing review, response to RFIs and contractor questions, site visits during construction, and additional design or re -design as a result of contractor errors or requests. 2. This proposal is valid thru the end of 2022. Work performed in years subsequent to 2022 will be invoiced per the fee schedule current to the year in which services were performed. TECHNICAL CLARIFICATIONS INVOICING Services will be invoiced on a monthly basis. All invoices are due upon receipt and will be assessed a late payment charge of 1 % per month if not paid within 60 days of the invoice date. If Pacific is not paid when due, Pacific may suspend or terminate services, and all copies of any reports, plans, specifications and other documents prepared by Pacific under this agreement will be returned to Pacific, and these documents will not be relied upon in any fashion. Pacific retains all rights to claim against performance bonds, lien property, and other measures to receive payment for services rendered. EXTRA SERVICES If extra services outside the scope of work are requested, we will determine the fees associated with the extra service and communicate this to you so that you can decide whether to add the extra service and fees to the budget. In addition to the excluded services listed in the structural scope of work, extra services that are not included in the scope of work include significant changes in scope, additional requested items, additional design or re -design and detailing predicated on contractor's errors or request.
