HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 89-092-CCBOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS GRANT COUNTY, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NUMBER 89-92 -CC WHEREAS, it is the belief of the Washington State Statewide Steering Committee on Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, Pregnancy and Parenting, that by encouraging self-worth, promoting prevention education, and affirming the goodness and value of youth, we can reduce the incidence of teenage pregnancy, which leads to serious health and social problems; and WHEREAS, we must all acknowledge our collective responsibility and recognize that there is no single approach to solving the problem; and WHEREAS, government, community organizations, religious groups, youth agencies, businesses, civic groups, schools, as well as parents and youth must educate themselves, identify their roles, and work cooperatively; and WHEREAS, the Statewide Steering Committee has launched the "Let's Talk" campaign in Washington State to support the role of the family in educating our youth about sexuality and parenting issues; and WHEREAS, our community has a responsibility to help parents and children explore and effectively communicate about issues in moral -physical develop- ment, sexuality, decision making, and responsible parenthood to improve the quality of family life; NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Grant County Commissioners do hereby proclaim the month of October 1989 as "Let's Talk" Month.
