Week of July 12,1993
The Grant County Commissioners session was called to order at 10:00 a.m. July
15,1993 by Chairman Helen Fancher. Commissioner Snead was in attendance with the
Clerk of the Board. Chairman Fancher was out of town on July 12, and July 13 so there
was no quorum on those days, however Commissioner Snead was in attendance and
took care of the following matters.
July 12,1993
Commissioner Snead met with Sharon Kiehn, Steve Hallstrom and Vern Cummings
regarding plans for remodeling the Mental Health building.
July 13,1993
Commissioner Snead met with representatives of the Public Works Department
to open bids for road projects. on Potato Hill Road and Stratford Road. The bids
received were referred to the Public Works Department for their recommendations.
Commissioner Snead met with the State Auditors for their entrance interview.
July 15,1993
The minutes of the preceding session were read and approved as written.
The Commissioners approved the salary increase of Richard Canterbury of the
Grant County Sheriff Department to $2,334 per month effective July 1,1993.
The Commissioners approved the appointment of Ludene Gerhauser to a position
on the North Central Washington Regional Support Network Advisory Board for a three
year term.
The Commissioners were notified by the Public Works Director that Bridge #324,
#381,Pinto Ridge Road Bridge #117, and #245 were built in accordance with the plans
and specifications, and that all materials incorporated into the project met contract
specifications.
The Commissioners received information for the Department of Ecology regarding
the DNS on Gary Nieborsky Amateur Radio Tower proposal. The information was
referred to the Planning Department.
As of this date the Board by a majority vote does approve for payment those
vouchers included in the list filed in the Auditors Office 7/12/93 in the total amount of
$211,040.32.
The Commissioners signed the Public Works Claims Fund Voucher Approval #6-1
through 6-240 in the total amount of $1,434,205.47.
The Commissioners received the original Promissory Note dated July 1,1993
signed by Tony Soong regarding the Webster Hardware Corporation matter.
The Commissioners notified Tommer Construction that they were awarded the
contract for the Potato Hill Road project in the amount of $270,145.98.
The Commissioners notified Basin Paving Company that they were awarded the
contract for the 7 -NE and Stratford Road project in the amount of $646,077.21.
The Commissioners approved the salary increase of Manuelita Nunez of the Grant
County Alcohol and Drug Center to $1378 per month.
A motion was made by Commissioner Snead, seconded by Commissioner
Fancher that Resolution Number 93 -83 -CC adopting the Planning Commission
recommendation in the matter of changing the zoning from Agriculture to Agriculture
Suburban in a portion of Section 27, Township 21 N., Range 24 E.W.M. requested by
John Martinez be passed. The motion carried.
A motion was made by Commissioner Snead, seconded by Commissioner
Fancher that Resolution Number 93 -84 -CC adopting the Planning Commission
recommendation in the matter of changing the zoning from Agriculture to Suburban -
Agriculture in a portion of Section 34, Township 15N., Range 23 E.W.M. requested by
George and Margaret J. Carroll be passed. The motion carried.
Chairman Fancher was authorized to sign the Determination of Non -significance
on the land use and zone change from Agriculture to Suburban Agriculture requested
by George Carroll, et ux..
The Commissioners met with the three candidates whose names were submitted
by the Republican Party to fill the position left vacant by the resignation of Commissioner
Sid Winzler. After interviewing Harold Tracy, Gordon Harris and LeRoy Allison the
Commissioners made a decision to appoint LeRoy Allison to fill the position.
As there was no further business the session was adjourned until July 19,1993.
