BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED AND HEREBY ORDERED that the total amount of sick leave donated shall not exceed 120 days, and BE IT ALSO RESOLVED AND HEREBY ORDERED that this action shall in no way be construed to set a precedent. DONE THIS 17th DAY OF JULY, 1995 MEAST: - A Clerk &Ue Board )Q f ,Chairman Re: Donated Sick Leave Dear Commissioners: As we have discussed, one of the Prosecuting Attorney's Office employees has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. She underwent surgery and chemotherapy approximately two years ago. Her physicians were of the opinion that the cancer was in remission, based on subsequent tests and examinations. The employee's condition is established by insurance pay records in Accounting. A letter from her attending physician is forthcoming, although his office cannot guarantee that it will timely arrive. Given, her condition, time is of the essence. The employee has very recently had the cancer reoccur, or it is perhaps new cancer; the physicians are not entirely sure. Additional surgery is scheduled for next Monday. Chemotherapy treatments may be required. Although the prognosis is promising, the employee will be unable to work for at least three weeks and probably closer to five weeks. A review of the employee's leave record does not indicate that over use on a continuing long term basis has occurred. Her leave time has been depleted, in large part, due to her continuing treatments. Remaining leave, both sick and annual will not cover the normal recovery period. This employee has a husband and one child at home, and the loss of a paycheck would result in extreme financial hardship. Unfortunately, her Deputies accumulated leave will be exhausted by the end of the month and her NS ALEXB`HERNRES A DEZ paycheck will stop if some assistance is not provided. CAROLE L. HIGHLAND WILLIAM J.HALSTEAD Based on the aforementioned reasons and the applicable criteria governing Ephrata, Washington donated sick days requests, it is hereby requested that the Board of Commissioners approve the use of donated leave from other Grant County (the "County") employees to help this employee through this unfortunate medical situation. Based on contacts that I have had, and these contacts were initiated by other County employees, there appears to be a number of employees willing to assist our employee if given the opportunity.
