HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 96-033-CCBOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Grant County, Washington RESOLUTION NUMBER 96- 33 -CC WHEREAS, March 17-23,is NATIONAL AGRICULTURE WEEK, and the 1996 Ag Day theme is "Growing Better Everyday, In Partnership With Nature" and WHEREAS, Grant County is an agricultural county, in which a large portion of our population is either directly or indirectly dependent upon Agriculture, and WHEREAS, Washington State produces of $5 billion worth of agriculture products, and WHEREAS, we farm 15.8 million acres in Washington State and have over 36,000 farms in the State, and WHEREAS, the average farmer produces enough food and fiber to meet the needs of 128 people, and WHEREAS, more than 100,000 people are employed on farms to produce and harvest agricultural products, and WHEREAS, more than 37,000 people work in the state's food processing industry, and WHEREAS, thousands of others are employed in jobs that supply or service the food and agriculture industry, and WHEREAS, the men and women on farms across America today provide unprecedented abundance to this nation and the world, NOW THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Grant County Commissioners and citizens of Grant County take the opportunity to thank those who work so hard to help make the lives of all County residents better.
