HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - BOCCCOMMISSIONERS' PROCEEDINGS May 6,1996 Week The Grant County Commissioners session was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Chairman Tim Snead. All of the Commissioners were in attendance with the Clerk of the Board. The Commissioners read and approved the minutes of the preceding session as written. The Commissioners appointed Doug Rathbone to a position on the Grant County Board of Adjustment. The Commissioners received a claim for damages from Kip Minnameier against Quincy Valley Hospital. The matter was referred to the Prosecuting Attorney for handling. The Commissioners signed Douglas County Resolution #96-047 appointing Joanne Whitehall to represent Douglas County on the Board of Trustees of the North Central Regional Library District to fill the unexpired term of Ken Briggs. Commissioner Snead was authorized to sign a Covenant Not to Sue document which was then sent to Jim Fisher for his signature regarding covering a claim for broken glasses. The Commissioners approved the salary increase of Deputy Dan Couture of the Sheriff's Office to $2,583.00. Chairman Snead was authorized to sign the Notice of Separation or Work Interruption of Lynn Holyk of the Maintenance Department. The Commissioners received a signed copy of the Agreement with Grant County Port District No. 9 for purchase of property. The Commissioners held a Public Hearing regarding the lease of County property. A motion was made by Commissioner Fancher, seconded by Commissioner Allison that Resolution Number 95 -53 -CC approving the lease of Grant County land adjacent to its communications site in Ephrata to Nick and Donna Tommer be passed. The motion carried. Staff to draft up the lease for signatures. As there was no further business to come before the Board the session was continued until May 7,1996. May 7,1996 The session was continued at 9:00 a.m. with all of the Commissioners in attendance with the Clerk of the Board. The Commissioners met with the Public Works Director regarding Bid Recommendation -Public Works Office/Shop Complex, RAP Project Submittals, Potato Hill/1-90 Overpass, and STP Project Submittals. The Commissioners approved the starting salary of Will Stakelin of the Sheriff's Office at $2,466.90 effective May 20,1996. A motion was made by Commissioner Fancher, seconded by Commissioner Allison that the bid for the Public Works Office/ Shop Complex be awarded to Levernier Construction, Inc. at the base bid price of $3,397,617 plus the Additive Alternate No. 1 of $205 per door for a total of 19 doors. The Commissioners held a Public Hearing regarding the Plat alteration requested by Lawrence and Debra Hembroff on Lot 8, Block 3, of Ridgeview Estates. A motion was made by Commissioner Fancher, seconded by Commissioner Allison to uphold the Planning Commission approval and request that Stirling Knudsen get the drawings done and in for signatures as drawn by Public Works, with Staff to prepare findings. The motion carried. As of this date the Board by a majority vote does approve for payment those vouchers included int he list filed in the Auditors Office 5/6/96 in the total amount of $281,936.40. As there was no further business to come before the Board the session was adjourned until May 13,1996.
