As of 4/1/96 the Veterans Relief fund has expended $624 for
gas and bus fare for 11.r, hospital appointments in Spokane. If this
rate continues the year end usage would be $2496. We can get a van
set up to run,.Grant, Douglas, Adams and Lincoln counties. Grant
County's share of the cost would be $2000. This will save:the county
$496 in this first year alone. The van would be used for 3 years
before being replaced so the county would save a total of $5488 to
be used for other things for the veterans in need. Once the van is
in place, the V.A. in Spokane would take care of maintenance, fuel,
insurance and any other expenses that might occur: The vet sector
would supply the drivers.
This will be very important for the county to act on.
Rumor has it in the service organizations that the V.A. may -cut all
travel expense reimbursement in the future. If this happens the
relief fund expenditures could as much as triple. This way for $2000
the county would b- Davina a large sum of monies for more immediate
needs of the veterans of Grant County. An excellent investment in
a progressive move for the future.

Either via the veterans relief fund or application to any grant,fund
the county may have access to for the $2000.'
