GRANT COUNTY'S PLAN
FOR CONTINUED
COMPLIANCE WITH THE
GROWTH MANAGEMENT
ACT
WHEREAS, The Board of County Commissioners of Grant County
Washington intends to ��Ily comply with the Eastern Washington
Growth Management Hearings Board; and,
WHEREAS, The Board of County Commissioners of Grant County
Washington adopted Resolu�ion N�. 96-108-CC entitled, A
RESOLUTION ADOPTING GRANT COUNTY'S PLAN FOR
CONTINIlED COMPLIANCE WITH THE GROVi/TH MANAGEMENT
ACT, a"work plan" as required by 36.70A.390 RCW; and,
Whereas, Said resolution stipu9ates that the County will adopt int�rim
residential zoning density regulatimns for the existing zoning districts

af Suburban (�-� , S-2, S-3}, Residential {R-1, R-2}, and Open-space
{�3-SR); and,
Whereas, The Soard of County Cc�mmissioners of Grant Caunty
Wa�hington adopfied Ordinance No. 97-39-CC on March 25, � 997,
and 4rdinance 97-150-CC September23, �997, AN tJDINANCE
ADOPTING INTERIM Z{JNING FC)R TEM4RARILY AMENDING
GRANT CC}UNT`Y R-1, R-2, S-�, S-2, S-3, P-D, AND tJ-SR Zoning
Districts; and,
WHEREAS, 36.70A.39a RCW provides for �he adoption af interim
zoning contrc�ls provided the County halds a public hearing on the
pro�osed i�t�rim zr�ning or�inance within at [east sixty (60} days of
its adoption; and, that �he interim z�ning ordinance may be e�Fective
for not longer than six �6} mon�hs, but may be effective fi�r up to one
year if a work plan is developed; �nd, that ihe infierim zaning
ardinartce may be extended for one or more six-month periods; and,
�IVhereas, Grant County �oni�tg Ordinance No. 97-39-CC and
C)rdinance 97-15�-CC were adopted and implemented as siipuiated
in �rant Counties "work pian", ResoCution 9�-1 U8-CC, and that
extending Ordinance 97-39-CC complies with the direction provided
in 36,70A.390 RGW; and,
Vithereas, fhe Board of County Commissioners makes the fol[owing
findings:
1. An emergency exists;
2. There is n�t enough time io satisfy normal notice for a public
hear�ng; lt is ��propriate to renew the existing Zoning Ordinance
because Granf Coe�nty has a work pian wi�hin fihe confemp[ation
of RGW 3�.7QA.390;
3. Density restriction are required because Grant County is
cc�mplying wiih the previous order a�F the Eastern Washington
Growth Management Hearings �c�ard.
NCJJW, THEREFt7RE, BE IT ORDAIN�D BY TH1S iNTERIM
t�RDIt�ANCE, as foltovus:
The Bc�ard c�f Coun�[y Commissioners hereby extends in�erim
{�rdinanee 97-39-CC and 4rdinance 97-'! 5Q-CC for six (6} months,
effecfiive C3ctober 14, �997 through April 14,1998, which tempararily
amends the fallowing Sections of the Grant County Zoning
ardinance ta establish a minirnum� lot area of �wo and c�ne-half {2,5)
acres and a rnaximum residential density of one (� ) residential unit
per �nro and one-haif acres (2.� acres} for the fQllowing districts
entitled: SECTION VI--A, R-1 (RESIDENTIAL}, SE�TI(JN - VI--B, R-
2 (RESIDENTIAL); SECTION -� SUBURBAN - (S-� ); SECTION -
SUBUR�AN-II (S-2}; SECTIC�N - SUBURBAN - 111 {5-3}; SECTI(JN -
