W�IEREAS, the Board of Commissioners is aware of problems being eYperienced by the
Town of Mattawa, which include sewage disposal and a housin�; shoi�age; and
WI�EREAS, the To��vn of Mattawa is proposinb the installation of sanitary sewers; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Mattawa does not have sufficient resources to provide sanitary
sewer service without financial assistance; and
WFIEREAS, the Grant County Health District has sought concurrence from the
Washington State Department of Health in the declaration of a severe public health
hazard in Matta�va; and
W��'REAS, this declaration will increase the likelihood of obtaining grant funding for
the sewers; THEREFORE,
BE iT HEREBY RESOLVED, the Baard of Commissioners supports the declaration of
severe public health hazard, supports the granting of funds to Mattawa for the
cor�struction af sanitary sewers, and will continue to work with th� Town of Mattawa to
address the other problems associated wiih the rapid population growth in the Town.
