I receiv�d a telephone call from Bob Mosher this morning remindin� that the Law Library budget
was in bad shape. The library committee met November 4, 1998, a� which meeting I made them
aware of the problem of increasing costs and the fact that we would be unable to pay West
billings already in hand and one that would arrive in December which all together would total
approximately $7,000. Judge Sperline said he would have Mindi Finke set up a meeting and
tallced abaut next week, but that meeting is set for December 1 S, 1998.
In the budget request for 1999 the problem was addressed in requesting additional funds for the
category O�ce and Operating Supplies. Also in the line item explanation the above amaunt was
mentioned as the reason for the very significant increase.
We originally went to the CD I�om programs replacing man� of the books we would normally
have in the law library to save money. The costs just seem to go up anyway. The committee is
thinking of discontinuing most oithe regional �•eporters as a means of cost cutting.
Bob Mosher indicated this morning that you should be immediately notified of our current budget
problem.
