HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 12-026-CCBOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Grant County, Washington IN RE THE MATTER OF CREATING RESOLUTION No. 12- (�� �CC A1�TD REDEFINING VOTING PItECINCT BOUNDARIES AND MAPS WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 29.16, et seq., the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) shall divide the county into election precincts and establish the boundaries of the precincts; and WHEREAS, such precinct boundaries may be altered at any time as long as sufficient time exists prior to a given election for the necessary procedural steps to be honored as more fully set forth in RCW 29.16, et seq.; and WHEREAS, the County Commissioner Districts lines have been adjusted to reapportion equal population pursuant to the 2010 decennial federal census; and WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 29.16, et seq., every voting precinct must be wholly within a single district of a county legislative authority; and WHEREAS, pursuant RCW 29.16, et seq., the number of active registered voters in each precinct within its jurisdiction may not exceed one thousand five hundred active registered voters; and ' WHEREAS, the County Auditor has advised the BOCC that the present voting precinct of Moses Lake 3, Moses Lake 7, and Moses Lake 8, is about to reach 1500 registered voters and has requested that such precincts be divided up and has furnished the necessary legal descriptions and names for tha new precincts; WHEREAS, the County Auditor has advised the BOCC that the present voting precinct of O' Sullivan Dam now has more than 1500 registered voters and has requested that such precinct be divided up and has furnished the necessary legal descriptions and names for the new precincts, and WHEREAS, the County Auditor has advised the BOCC that the present voting precinct of Wheeler is about to reach 1500 registered voters and has requested that such precinct be divided up and has furnished the necessary legal descriptions and names for the new precincts, and WHEREAS, the County Auditor has advised the BOCC that the new precincts of Hai�tline Rural North and Hartline Rural South have been created from the precinct formerly designated as Hartline Rural for the purpose of conforming to legislative district boundaries and placing voting precincts wholly within each respective legislative district; and WHEREAS, the County Auditor has advised the BOCC that the new precincts of Ephrata Rural East and Ephrata Rural West have been created from the precinct formerly designated as Ephrata In Re The Matter of Creating and Redefining Voting Precinct Boundaries and Maps - Page 1 of 3 Civil 8\Departments\Ordinances�2012\Redistricting\Resolution New Precincts 3-23-12 Rural for the purpose of conforming to legislative district boundaries and placing voting precincts wholly within each respective legislative district; and WH�REAS, the County Auditor has advised the BOCC that a portion of the precinct currently designated as Lakeview Parlc has been incorporated into the precinct currently designated Soap Lake West for the purpose of conforming to legislative district boundaries and placing voting precincts wholly within each respective legislative district; and WHEREAS, the County Auditor has advised the BOCC that a portion of the precinct formerly designated as Block 71 has been incorporated into the precinct currently designated as Ephrata Rural West for the purpose of conforming to legislative district boundaries and placing voting precincts wholly within each respective legislative district; and WHEREAS, the County Auditor has advised the BOCC that a portion of the precinct currently known as Quincy Rural South has been incorporated into the precinct currently designated as Quincy Rural North for the purpose of conforining to legislative district boundaries and placing voting precincts wholly within each respective legislative district; and WHEREAS, the County Auditor has advised the BOCC that the new precinct of Coulee City Rural North has been created from a portion of the precinct currently designated as Coulee City Rural East for the purpose of conforming to legislative district boundaries and placing voting precincts wholly within each respective legislative district. WHEREAS, the voting precincts situated within the legislative district boundary of Commissioner District No. 1 as set forth in Chapter 1.08.010 of the Grant County Code shall be as follows: Airpoi�t 1, Airport 2, Cascade Fairgrounds, Cascade Valley, Coulee City, Coulee City Rural North, Coulee City Rural East, Coulee City Rural West, Electric City, Ephrata 2, Ephrata 3, Ephrata 4, Ephrata 5, Ephrata 7, Ephrata 9, Ephrata Rural East, Ephrata Rural West, Gloyd, Grand Coulee, Greenfield, Hartline, Hartline Rural North, Hartline Rural South, Lakeview Park, Marlin, Marlin Rural, McConihe 2, North Banks Lake, Soap Lalce 1, Soap Lake 2, Soap Lalce Rural East, Soap Lake Rural West, Stratford, Wheeler 1, Wheeler 2, Wilson Creek, and Wilson Creek Rural. WHEREAS, the voting precincts situated within the legislative district boundary of Commissioner District No. 2 as set foi�th in Chapter 1.08.010 of the Grant County Code shall be as follows: Longview, Moses Lalce 1, Moses Lake 2, Moses Lake 3, Moses Lake 4, Moses Lake 5, Moses Lalce 6, Moses Lalce 7, Moses Lake 8, Moses Lalce 9, Moses Lake 11, Moses Lake 12, O'Sullivan Dam 1; O'Sullivan Dam 2, Ruff, Warden, and Warden Rural. WHEREAS, the voting precincts situated within the legislative district boundary of Commissioner District No. 3 as set forth in Chapter 1.08.010 of the Grant County Code shall be as follows: Beverly, Blocic 71, East Wahluke, George, George Rural, Mae, Mattawa, Ma�tawa Rural, McConihe 1, Quincy 1, Quincy 4, Quincy 6, Quincy Rural North, Quincy Rural South, Royal Camp, Royal City, Smyrna 1, Smyrna 2, Westslope 1, and Westslope 2. In Re The Matter of Creating and Redefining Voting Precinct Boundaries and Maps - Page 2 of 3 Civi18\Departments\Ordinances�2012\Redistricting\Resolution New Precincts 3-23-12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RCSOLVED THAT this resolution supersedes any existing ordinance or resolution involving legal descriptions and maps for all precincts in Grant County and that Attachment "A" be hereby adopted pursuant to RCW 29A.16, et seq.
