DIST1aICTS, ADOPTING A REDISTRICTII�IG PLAI�
PURSUANT TO THE 2010 FEDERAL DECEIeiNIAL
CENSUS, AMENDING CHAPTER 1.08 GCC, A1�iD
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
RECITALS:
WHEREAS, on or about April 6th, 2011, Grant County received updated information from the
State Redistricting Comrnission concerning county population based on the 2010 decennial
federal census; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 29A.76, et seq., Grant County is required to prepare a plan for
redistricting its commissioner districts within eight months after receipt of federal decennial
census data; and
WHEItEAS, the plan prepared by Grant County complies with the following requirements as set
forth in RCW 29A.76.010, to wit:
(a) Each district is as compact as possible;
(b) Each district consists of a geographically contiguous area;
(c) Population data was not used for purposes of favoring or disfavoring any racial group
or political party;
(d) To the extent feasible, district boundaries coincide with existing recognized natural
boundaries and, to the extent possible, preserve existing communities of related and
mutual interest; and
(e) Each commissioner district is as nearly equal in population as possible to each and
every other such district given considerations as set forth in the four preceding
pi•ovisions.
WHEREAS, Grant County has conducted a duly advertised public hearing, and has received
public testimony and comment; and
WHEREAS, the Grant County Board of County Commissioners has reviewed available
information, the public comment and testimony, and finds that the redistricting plant best meets
the critaria set forth in RCW 29A.76, et seq., for redistricting of commissioner districts within
Grant County.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY ORDAINED by the Board of County Commissioners
of Grant County, State of Washington, that Chapter 1.08. of the Grant County Code (GCC) be
amended and is hereby amended as follows:
Section 1. Commissioner District No. 1 as set forth in Chapter 1.08.010 GCC is amended as
follows, and shall include the area encompassed by the boundaries set forth below:

Section 5. This ordinance, amending the existing text for Chapter L08 GCC, shall be effective
when signed.
