RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING GRANT COUNTY
TO COLLABORATE WITH COUNTIES,
STAKEHOLDEI�S, AND PARTNERS OF THE
EASTERN WASHINGTON REGIONAL HEALTH
ALLIAI�TCE.
RCSOLUTION NO. 12- Q� 3 -CC
WHEREAS, pursuant Chapter 36.32 RCW, the Board of County Commissioners of Grant
County, Washington, has the care of county property and the management of County funds and business;
and
WHEREAS, Grant County has been worlcing in collaboration with eight other Washington state
counties to create the Eastern Washington Regional Health Alliance. The counties included in such
alliance are Adams County, Ferry County, Grant County, Lincoln County, Olcanogan County, Pend Oreille
County, Spolcane County, Stevens County, and Whitman County; and
WHEREAS, the Eastern Washington Regional Health Alliance is a public-private partnership that
consists of local govarnments, tribes, Recognized American Indian Organizations, state government,
criminal justice systems, regional health districts and local health departments, area agencies on aging,
disability services providers, children and family services providers, Regional Support Networks,
community health centers, health plans, hospitals, primary medical care and behavioral healthcare
providers, pharmacies, foundations, health and medical education providers, housing providers, and the
citizens of our region; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Regional Health Alliance is to research health problems, prioritize
health issues, set indicator targets, benchmarlc progress in achieving objectives, identify resources,
encourage and assist in the development of a coordinated regional health plan, serve as a catalyst for
positive change in the health care arena, foster collaborations, and initiate projects to promote the health
of the community, and assist local communities in creating organized systems of care and a supportive
system to help those in the safety net achieve bettar health, better care, and reduce costs; and
WHEREAS, collaboration by and between Grant County and the above listed counties,
stakeholders, and partners regarding formation of the Eastern Washington Regional Health Alliance for
purposes stated above is the best interests of Grant County citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT R�SOLVED AND OIaDAINED that tha Board of County
Commissioners of Grant County adopt this Resolution wherein Grant County shall collaborate with the
above listed counties, stakeholders, and partners to form the Eastern Washington Regional Health
Alliance.

Dear County Commissioners and County Coordinators:
Attached are the Eastern Washington Regional Health Alliance (EWRHA) resolutions from three counties
and a revised resolution based on recommendations from Aging and Long-Term Care of Eastern
Washington (ALTCEW).
The third "whereas" in the revised resolution includes a broader list of public and private partnerships,
We recommend that counties that have not yet passed their EWRHA resolution use the revised
language. Those who have already passed a resolution, (Grant, Lincoln, and Stevens counties) may want
to consider revising it.
What is most critical is that we get all signed resolutions, or the date of when your resolution will be
approved, returned to us by March 26, 2012 for our grant funding request to Empire Health Foundation.
