RADIOLOGICAL EMERGENCY
WH�REAS, The Board of Commissioners for Grant County have been nalified of an
emergency event at the Energy Narthwest Columbia Generating Slalion nuclear

WHEREAS, The release or potential release of radioactive:;materials from the nuclear reactor
may require the iniplementation of emerger�cy�protective actions lo protect the
property, health, and welfare of the citizens of�.Granf�County; and

WHEREAS, The emergency response resources of�Grant County will not;,be sufficient to meet
the requirements of a prolonged response to a release of radioactive materials

WHEREAS, 7he emergency event r�quires the�!activation!;ofi th�e Gra�i County �ixed Nuclear
Facility Response Plan;and usc of Statuto;ryemergency powers granted pursuant

IT IS HEREBY DECLARED AND RESOLV�D BY":THE GRANT COUNTY BOARD OF

1.) That a Ftadiolagical Emergency exists within:Grant'Cou�nty as a result of a classified
emergency with a release or potential release of radioaclive material at the Columbia
Generating Station ny�lear reactor and �the suc.h_Emergency is de lared to hav
commenced as of �9' ,%�M. O'clock on.th UF ay of %��v ,�.

2.} That all Departments and Offices of Granf County are authorized to enter into
contracts and obligations necessary to respond io the declared emergency to prolect the
health, welfare, and property of the citizens of Grant County and to provide the citizens
�vith emergency assistance.
3.) That because of the impending radlologica! emergency, all Depariments and Oifices of
Grant County are auihorized to use emergency purchasing procedures without regard to
time consuming procedures and formalities required by law for non-emergency
purchases of goods and services, except those mandated by Conslitutional
requirements.
4.) That the following request for assistance is made to the Governor of the
Staie of Washington:

the Washington State Department of Health, DivisiDn of Radiation Protectivn,

the Washington State Qepartment of Agriculture,
