HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 09-021-CCBOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONER� Grant County, Washington RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE RESOLUTION No. 09-�� �-CC VVASHIl�iGTON STATE TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION RENAMING WASHINGTOl�t STATE ROUTE 529 AS THE YELLOW RIBBON HIGHWAY WHEREAS, Washington State Route 529 is located within Snohomish County, running between Everett and Marysville, and is currently unnamed; and WHEREAS, according to the U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs, there are currently 643,000 veterans in Washington State; and WHEREAS, American service men and women have always sacrificed extraordinarily for our nation at home and abroad; and WHEREAS, Grant County will always be grateful to the individuals that serve our nation and encourages supporting a wide range of veteran services; and WHEREAS, the following municipalities have provided written support in favor of dedicating WA SR 529 to our veterans: Franklin County, City of Seattle, City of Edmonds, Puget Sound Federal Fire Fighters, and Snohomish County; and WHEREAS, countless Washington State men and women have served our country in the Armed Forces over the years and they and their families have sacrificed a great deal to ensure the freedoms we enjoy; and WHEREAS, renaming a state highway in honor of our veterans is a meaningful way to show our gratitude for their selfless service and sacrifice to our country; and WHEREAS, honoring the service and sacrifice of the brave men and women that serve in our nation's military forces is very important to Grant County; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Grant County Board of Commissioners fully supports the Washington State Transportation Commission in renaming Washington State Route 529 as the "Yellow Ribbon Highway" Page 1 of 2 DATED this __� day of _�� t�V �, 2009.
