RESOLUTION IN THE
MATTER OF Wildfire,
July 6, 2007

WHEREAS, the Department of Grant County Emergency Management
has reported to the Grant County Board of County Commissioners on July 6,
2007, that the impacts of a wildfire with strong winds, which began on July 6,
2007, within a portion of Grant County with rugged terrain, which will threaten
wildlife in the Columbia Wildlife National Refuge. The fire impacted
approximately 1,000 acres of rural Grant County Fire District 11 and the
Columbia Wildlife National Refuge.
WHEREAS, local resources from Grant County Fire Districts 10 and 11,
Adams County Fire District 5, and US Fish and Wildlife, have been exhausted
within the first and second shift, additional resources from other fire district are
extremely limited due to personnel being unavailable. Mission number 07-2056
was assigned by the State Duty Officer at 21:45 on July 6, 2007.
WHEREAS, the emergency event was declared by the Board of County
Commissioners Chairman, Le Roy Allison at the request of the Director of
Emergency Management to activate the Grant County Comprehensive
Emergency Management Plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT:
(1) It is hereby declared that there is an emergency due to the impacts
suffered from the wildfire of July 6`h 2007, throughout a portion of
Grant County, specifically the rural area of the Columbia Wildlife
National Refuge; and
(2) Grant County therefore seeks Federal assistance from Fish and
Wildlife for available resources to assist the County of Grant and the
Columbia Basin Wildlife National Refuge in, Washington, from the
surround jurisdictions within Central or Eastern Washington.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 9 day of July, 2007.
