AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6.02 OF THE
GRANT COUNTY CODE BY ADDING FRESHWATER
ESTATES AND RATHBONE PROPERTY TO GRANT
COUNTY'S FIREARMS CONTROL AREAS IN WHICH THE
DISCHARGE OF FIREARMS IS PROHIBITED AND, OTHER
MATTERS PROPERLY RELATING THERETO.
RECITALS:
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners (BOCC) has received a petition from
residents and property owners from Freshwater Estates On Crab Creek, and William L.
Rathbone, requesting that a Firearms Control Area be established in the Freshwater Estates On
Crab Creek neighborhood, beginning at the intersection of Harris Road and Viking Road,
continuing south along the west bank of Crab Creek to the end of Viking Road, and the
Rathbone property, which is across Crab Creek and adjoins Freshwater Estates from the east
side, prohibiting the discharge of firearms within said area; and
WHEREAS, the Grant County Sheriff's Office concurs with the request that a Firearms
Control Area be established within the aforementioned area, prohibiting the discharge of
firearms within said area; and
WHEREAS, the BOCC has determined that it is reasonable, advisable and necessary for
the public health, safety and welfare of the residents of Grant County to establish the additional
aforementioned area within the Firearms Control Areas for Grant County, prohibiting the
discharge of firearms within said area.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF GRANT
COUNTY, STATE OF WASHINGTON, THAT CHAPTER 6.02 GCC BE AMENDED
BY ADDING A NEW SUBSECTION TO SECTION .020 DEFINITIONS.
Section 1. Grant County Code 6.02.020, adopted by Ordinance/Resolution 94 -52 -CC on April
3, 1995, amended by Ordinance/Resolution No. 97 -119 -CC on July 1, 1997, is hereby amended
by adding new subsection (4) to section .020, to read:
(4) Freshwater Estates On Crab Creek Area and Rathbone Property more particularly
described as follows:
Freshwater Estates Lots 1-7, with vacated road adjacent (Harris), Block 1; Lots
1-6 Block 2, inclusive of Viking Road, and Rathbone Parcel #170480000. all of

which are a portion of the NW '/4 ofthe NE 1/4, S 2, T 19 N, R 28, E. W.M., Grant
County, Washington.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect on the I" day of July, 2006.
A public hearing was held on the above ordinance at 1:30 o'clock p.m., on the 26`h
day of June, 2006.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT THE GRANT
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS adopt this ordinance/resolution.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 26th day of June, 2006.
