RE: BUDGET EXTENSION -COUNTY SURPLUS AUCTION
The total costs for the 2005 County Surplus Auction were $6,474.87. This amount is
broken out to Maintenance $332.40, Fair $5,842.47, Prosecuting Attorney $150.00 and
Treasurer for $150.00. We were especially appreciative to the Fair for their cost
effectiveness in keeping costs down this year In fact, this year's total costs were less
than what Public Works had billed out for just their services in 2004. In talking to the
Auditor, Chief Accountant and the State Auditor's office, it was decided that the
additional expenses on top of the auctioneer expenses should be budgeted and bills paid
by voucher. ,Bill, Dave and I believe conceptually, that this expense is not a Treasurer's
budget expense since my office derives no benefit from these auctions. It was decided
that the logical current expense budget for this type of expense is the Mise General
Government budget Please do a budget extension to Misc General Government 125 for
these Professional Services expenses to reimburse the Maintenance, Fair, PA and
Treasurer for their costs incurred for this auction this year. The balancing revenue source
will be the payments that were billed out to the participants a couple weeks ago. The
payments are currently being deposited into 001-000-000-125-341-42-00-00.
If we have a sale next year, please remember to budget for 2006 $10,000 for expenses to
next years surplus auction and $10,000 in revenues.
