Washington State Department of Social and Health Services Domestic Violence Emergency Shelter and Advocacy contract amendment with New Hope Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services, for an increase in funding in the amount of $3�843•00. (Approved) Commissioners Office Safety Meeting Citizen Public Comment Period Glenn Stockwell, Ritzville, was in attendance to discuss the completion of the Columbia Basin Project (CBP) in Grant County. Believes the Republican Party should sign a contract stating they are willing to worlc in a bipartisan fashion on a fast track method for final completion of the CBP with the Democratic Party. This should be done at State and Federal levels. The Republican Party could act as an agent to force this issue to the table. The Commissioners are in support of the completion of the CBP. Mike Sallis and Jerry Thompson from the Grant County Veterans Coalition thanked the past Commissioners and present Commissioners for their support, He discussed the situation of homeless Veterans in the state. The Secretary of Veteran Affairs stated they will be spending g.z billion dollars on homeless Veterans this year. The Coalition is going after state funding that will assist families, not just single Veterans. This program will assist in preventing homelessness. Mr. Sallis would like a letter of support and he is interested in using the old K-Mart building to house homeless veterans and their families. He would like a rneeting in the evening with the Veterans Coalition and Commissioners. This meeting was set for February 15, 2011 at 5:3o p.m. Robert Buys (former Fair Association member) came in to discuss the changes to the Fair Association and is in support of the Board's decision to not renew the F'air Association contract. The Commissioners told of the terms that will be assigned and there will be term limits. There will also be a Commissioner ex-officio on the Committee. Asked the Commissioners if the Tractor Pulling Organization donated money to put reversible fans in the building, would the money go towards the fans only? The Board said yes, they would make sure. Commissioner Swartz recommended the Tractor Pull organization apply for funding from the Tourism Commission. He also stated how he enjoys working with Vern Cummings. Trial Court Improvement Funds will be used (fund #iz�, department 169). Commissioner Carter moved to close the public comment portion of the hearing, Commissioner Stevens seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Commissioner Stevens moved to approve the budget extension as presented. Commissioner Carter seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The hearing adjourned.
