Box 870 Moses Lake, WA 98837 RE: Letter of Support — 2027-2029 Consolidated Grant Program Vehicle Replacement Project Dear Board Chair Myers: We, the Grant County Board of Commissioners, are writing to express our strong support for Grant Transit Authority's (GTA) application for funding through the Washington State Department of Transportation's 2027-2029 Consolidated Grant Program for the replacement of three aging passenger -service vehicles serving Grant County. Grant County understands that the proposed project will replace three vehicles exceeding their useful. service lives with three new ADA-compliant, gasoline -fueled, low -floor minibuses will benefit the Grant County in many ways. These vehicles will support LTA's fixed -route, demand - response, and ADA paratransit services throughout rural Grant County. Grant County supports the request of $563,526 in funding, understanding that GTA is dedicating a match of $140,880 in local funds for the purchase of the three minibuses to continue safe and reliable service for residents and visitors across the county. The importance of safe, reliable, and accessible public transportation in Grant County is paramount to all users of transportation in Grant County. Reliable transportation is particularly important for individuals who have limited or no access to a personal vehicle, including seniors, persons with disabilities, low-income individuals, youth, and other transportation -dependent residents. If funded, this project will provide significant benefits to our community, including: • Improved safety and reliability by replacing vehicles that have exceeded their useful service lives and are at increased risk of breakdowns and service interruptions. • Improved accessibility through the continued availability of ADA-compliant vehicles for passengers with disabilities and other mobility limitations. We believe LTA's vehicle replacement project is a practical and necessary investment in the future of public transportation in Grant County. Replacing these aging vehicles will help GTA maintain a state of good repair while continuing to provide safe, dependable, and accessible transportation to the residents and communities that rely on these services. For these reasons, the Grant County Board of Commissioners strongly supports Grant Transit Authority's application for funding for this project and respectfully encourages its favorable consideration.
