BUILDING DIVISION (509) 754-2011 Ext. 3001 BuildingDepartment@grantcountywa.gov Request to the Board of County Commissioners 7-29-2026 Development Services Building Division The recent wildfire known as the Railroad Fire in Beverly, WA resulted in the loss of five homes and several accessory buildings. These structures will require building permits for reconstruction and demolition permits for the destroyed remains. As per the adopted permit fee schedule, the fees for demolition permit $106.50. In an effort to alleviate some of the burden on these homeowners, and create some good will, am requesting the Board of County Commissioners waive the demolition fee for all structures involved in this unfortunate incident. Most of these owners have lost everything they own, and this could be a small gesture by Grant County to say we don't want to add to their grief. When our permit fee schedule in next updated, this idea of a no -charge demolition permit for disasters will be included for your approval as a permanent provision. The effected homes are as follows: Parcel Address Structure Destroyed Fee 071184000 17354 Main St SW Manufactured Home $106.50 150295001 17226 Seattle St SW Single Family Residence $106.50 071212000 17266 Tacoma St SW Manufactured Home $106.50 071958200 20317 Lower Crab Creek Rd SW Manufactured Home $106.50 150295009 17647 Rd t.5 SW Manufactured Home $106.50 Total Fees requesting to be waived, $532.50 Respectfully submitted, Jerry Bessett Building Official Development Services/Building Division "To foster a thriving resilient, and safe community through innovative planning, efficient building processes, and robust fire prevention measures."
