APPOINTMENT OF REPLACEMENT COUNTY
AUDITOR
Grant County — The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), after a thorough selection
process, announced on June 25, 2026, the selection of Shannon Falstad as the Grant County
Auditor, succeeding Michele Jaderlund. Shannon Falstad will be appointed effective July 1, 2026.
Shannon has been serving as an Accounting Deputy with the Grant County Clerk's Office since
2016; her current duties include management of departmental tills and deposits, reconciling bank
accounts, supervising cashiers, processing payroll, and maintaining rigorous adherence to financial
protocols. Before that, she was the Recording/Licensing Lead Deputy at the Grant County
Auditor's Office from 1996 to 2016, where she oversaw licensing and recording operations,
processed daily deposits, maintained check registers, and ensured compliance with both county
and state contractual requirements. Shannon plans to bring her skills in leadership, financial
management, and public service to the role of Grant County Auditor.
The Auditor Applicant Interview, which took place on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., as
well as the announcement of the selection, were recorded and will be posted to the BOCC's official
YouTube page entitled Grant County, WA: BOCC.

I am writing to express my interest in the appointment for the Grant County Auditor position. With more than
two decades of progressive experience in county government, banking, and administrative roles, I am confident
that my skills and dedication make me an ideal candidate for this important responsibility.
During my tenure as Record ing/Licensing Lead Deputy at the Grant County Auditor's Office from 1996 to
20169 1 oversaw licensing and recording operations, processed daily deposits, maintained check registers, and
ensured compliance with both county and state contractual requirements. My responsibilities also included
tracking yearly continuing education for deputies, compiling documentation for audits, archiving records.,
indexing documents, and issuing marriage licenses. Additionally, I assisted the Election Department during
election periods, always ensuring accuracy and compliance.
My current role as Accounting Deputy with the Grant County Clerk's office has further strengthened my
expertise in managing departmental tills and deposits, reconciling bank accounts, supervising cashiers,
processing payroll, and maintaining rigorous adherence to financial protocols. I also prepare cost bills, submit
budget reports for grant reimbursement, process DSHS payment reports, and provide support during state audits
and budget preparations. These responsibilities have equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of
governmental accounting, reporting, and compliance.
My background also includes experience in title insurance and banking, where I managed branch vault
operations, supervised teller activities, processed legal documents, and provided excellent customer service. I
am committed to transparency, integrity, and efficiency in all financial and administrative processes.
I am eager to bring my skills in leadership, financial management, and public service to the role of Grant
County Auditor. I appreciate your consideration for this appointment and look forward to the opportunity to
