HomeMy WebLinkAboutUpdate Documents - BOCCGrant County, WA Job Description Sr� PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Director of Finance, under managerial di ection, serves as a key financial leader for Grant County, working collaboratively with the Chief Firncm Officer to ensure the establishment, implementation, and monitoring of the County's financial processes and policies. This position is responsible for supporting the County Administrator in maintai ng fiscal oversight, ensuring financial best practices are followed across all departments, and safeguarding the County's fiscal health. The Director of Finance serves as a strategic partner in financial planning, process improvement, and fiscal accountability, ensuring that the County's financial operations align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. Tte Director of Finance also serves as a policy advisor to the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) on budgetary and fiscal matters, and supports the County Administrator in maintaining fiscal integrity. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: This position is different from the Chief Financial Officer in that the Director of Finance reports to the County Administrator andth`BOCC and focuses on financial process oversight, internal controls, and cross -departmental fiscal coordination, while the CFO serves as the principal fiscal officer reporting to the County Auditor with primary responsibility for budget development and accounti, "'= wations. QUALIFICATIONS: Required Education and 'E perience: • Bachelor's degree i` .accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or related field, and • 7+ years' experience in finance, accounting, or fiscal management, including experience in governmental finance and budgeting. • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience managing financial operations, processes, or teams. • Experience developing and implementingfinancialpolicies, procedures, and internal controls. 2 of 4 Grant County Job Description . f CO( Grant County, WA Job Description • Experience working with multiple departments or stakeholders to ensure compliance with financial standards and regulations. • Experience analyzing complex financial data and preparing reports for executive leadership and governing bodies. • Experience with governmental accounting principles and practices, including knowledge of BARS, GAAP and GASB standards.
