RE: SALARIES INCREASED FOR JUDGES OF SUPERIOR COURTS
State law requires the Washington Citizens' Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials to
establish salary schedules for elected officials in the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial
branches of state government. The Commission published the salary schedules for the next
two-year period (July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2027) following their meeting on Feb 5, 2025.
An increase will be granted effective July 1, 2025, and an additional increase will be
implemented on July 1, 2026.
The newly adopted schedule sets the annual salary for full-time judges of the superior court as
follows:
Effective July 1, 2026 until June 30, 2026: $237,460
Effective July 1, 2026 until updated: $244,631
Arbitrators &-Judge Pro-Tempore Services
The reimbursement rate for both arbitration and judge pro-tempore services is based on
superior court judges' salaries so these rates will increase as well. The hourly/daily rate for the
state's contribution toward the cost of arbitrator and judge pro-tempore services shall be as
follows:
Effective from July 1, 2026 until June 30, 2026:
Arbitrator/Judge Pro-Tempore Commissioner/Attorneys'/Retired Judges' Rate
$67.85/hour ($474.92/day)
Note: The A 0 C does not reimburse for commissioner or commissioner pro-tempore time;
reimbursement will be granted, however for a commissioner acting as a judge pre-tempore.
