Requested revised price increases for the Fairgrounds
Justification
All costs are continuing to increase. Insurance alone went up significantly. Our goal, at some point, is to
get to break even for the operations side of Fairgrounds operation. We do keep in mind that we
generate up to $14 million per year in economic benefit to the County. But as money concerns grow we
can increase our rates slightly.
Fair rates
We want to increase ticketing but offer a discount for online sales. Online sales cost us less as we do not
have to staff ticket booths as much and we get the ticket revenue earlier, without weather dependency.
We also need to increase Bedding -fees to cover the cost of shavings and shavings disposal. In past years
we were able to dispose of shavings for nearly free. But with the volume we generate, we are now
paying per trip for disposal.
We increase camping as campsites are occupied for a full two weeks, with no other camping revenue for
three weeks in August. Also, we almost always sell out of camping so we should raise the price for
anything where demand exceeds availability (Common sense business decision)
Increase in vendor booths as its been a few years since we increased the fees. The rates are fairly
inexpensive for a 5-day fair with our attendance volume,
Non -Fair rates
Building rental rates are increased slightly as demand continues to be strong. Maintenance, cleaning and
wear and tear justify a slight increase in rates.
The kitchens seem to get used more and more for non-event usage so we feel we should increase that
revenue as we will need to invest in new stoves and refrigerators in the not -to -distant future.
We are increasing the price for rental tables, stages, PA systems and our canopies. All of these sustain
noticeable wear and tear and need to be replaced regularly.
We are suggesting no discount on stalls for events under a gross of $25,000. The cost of cleanup of stalls
is exceeding the revenue we get for these events.
We also suggest raising the internal county rate to $200/day for any building and the other government
agency rate to $400/day.
The last increase is for non -profits such as the local Barrel race club to $425 for a four hour rental. The
amount of work to prep for these events is the same as any other event. This is still less than the
standard rate and is basically the Non-profit rate.
