Rationale: Recognizing and rewarding long-term service is a key component of employee retention and engagement. Increasing annual leave entitlement for employees who have reached 20 years of continuous service demonstrates the organization's appreciation for their loyalty and sustained contribution. The proposed change aligns with industry best practices and promotes a healthy work -life balance for our most experienced employees. It also acts as an incentive for mid- to late -career staff to remain with the organization, reducing turnover and the associated costs of recruitment and training. Impact: The change will apply to employees with 20 or more years of continuous service and is expected to have a minimal financial impact due to the limited number of staff affected annually. The benefit in terms of employee morale, engagement, and retention is anticipated to outweigh any operational considerations. Conclusion: Approval of this proposal would affirm the organization's commitment to valuing long-term employees and investing in their well-being. It is therefore recommended that the annual leave accrual be increased to 24 days after 20 years of service, effective 1/1 /2026. HR Director Recommendation: I recommend we move forward with this policy and incorporate it into policy effective January 1, 2026.
