HomeMy WebLinkAboutPolicies - Human ResourcesGrant County Personnel Policy 407.5 - Grant County Mandatory Training Policy 1 Approval Date 5/06/2025 Approval Signatures Date Submitted for Approval 05/01/2025 Policy Owner Decorah Anderson -Cook, HR Director Human Resources Review Decorah Anderson -Cook, HR Director of County Commissioners Approval�IwQ7-Di f Kev� Bur ess, D strict 1Board " trio 2 r Cind Carter, bistrict 3 407.5.1 Purpose This policy establishes mandatory training requirements for all employees of Grant County to ensure compliance with legal obligations, enhance job performance, promote workplace safety, and maintain high standards of service to the public. 407.5.2 Scope This policy applies to all full-time, part-time, temporary, seasonal, and contract employees of Grant County, including elected officials and volunteers, where applicable. 407.5.3 Policy Statement All employees must complete designated mandatory trainings as determined by federal, state, and county regulations, as well as job - specific responsibilities. Completion of these trainings is a condition of continued employment or service. 407.5.4 Training Requirements The following trainings are mandatory and must be completed within the timeframes outlined: Grant County Personnel Policy Page 1 of 3 Grant County Personnel Policy Training Topic Audience Frequency iTimeframe for Completion Sexual Harassment All employees Annually Within 30 days of hire/onset Workplace Harassment All employees Annually Within 30 days of & Discrimination hire/onset Ethics &Code of All employees Annually Within 30 days of Conduct hire/onset Workplace Bullying All employees lAnnually Within 30 days of hire/onset Cybersecurity All computer Annually Within 30 days of Awareness users hire/onset Workplace Safety All employees Annually Within 30 days of (OSHA) hire/onset Emergency All employees Annually Within 90 days of Preparedness hire/onset HIPAA/Confidentiality Health -related Annually Within 30 days of departments hire/onset Diversity, Equity & All employees Annually Within 90 days of Inclusion hire/onset Additional department -specific or position -specific training may be required and assigned. 407.5.5 Roles and Responsibilities • Department Heads/Supervisors: Ensure employee participation and compliance with this policy. Notify HR of non-compliance to review and discuss the next appropriate steps. . • Human Resources Department: Maintain training records, update training requirements, and provide training access/logistics. Grant County Personnel Policy Page 2 of 3 Grant County Personnel Policy • Employees: Complete all required trainings by the specified deadlines, participate actively and demonstrate understanding of the material, and provide verification if requested. All trainings are intended to be completed during the employee's regular workday. 407.5.6 Compliance and Enforcement Failure to complete mandatory training within specified timeframes will result in disciplinary action, up to and including suspension or termination. Continued non-compliance may also impact eligibility for promotions or continued assignments. Exceptions may be granted for documented medical leave or other extenuating circumstances, subject to review and approval by Human Resources. 407.5.E Documentation and Record Keeping The Human Resources Department will maintain all training completion records for a minimum of five (5) years or as required by law and will be housed in the employee's personnel file. 407.5.7 Policy Review This policy will be reviewed annually by Human Resources and updated as necessary to reflect changes in regulations, technology, or organizational needs.
