Sam Kra utscheid is a fourth -generation farmer based in central Washington, where he has built a
Lifelong career rooted in production agriculture, family, and rural advocacy. He began farming in
1999 and in 2007 partnered with his father to combine operations, gaining efficiency and
strengthening their farm's foundation. They farmed side by side until his father's retirement in
2022. In a proud continuation of the family Legacy, Sam's oldest son returned to join the operation
in 2025.
A graduate of Washington State University with a degree in Crops and Soil Science (Class of 1998),
Sam has spent over two decades building a diversified and resilient farm business. His operation
includes both conventional and organic acreage, with a focus on sustainable practices and Long-
term land stewardship.
In addition to farming, Sam has played a vital role in supporting neighboring growers through his ag
chem retail business. After working for a local agricultural chemical retailer following college, he
established his own dealership in 2004. Today, that business serves customers from the Horse
Heaven Hills to the Highway 2 corridor, offering agronomic support and reliable crop protection
products.
Sam is also a dedicated advocate for Washington agriculture through his leadership and public
service. He currently serves on the Grant County Farm Bureau (where he is a past President), the
Grant County Voluntary Stewardship Program (VSP), and the Grant County Farm Service Agency
(FSA) County Committee. His work on these boards reflects a strong commitment to ensuring the
viability of agriculture across the region through sound policy, conservation efforts, and local
representation.
From planting fields to representing farmers at the county level, Sam Krautscheid brings
experience, integrity, and generational vision to everything he does.

Washington State Farm Service Agency Board EMM,
RE: Washington State Farm Service Agency Board Appointment Recommendation
To Whom it May Concern,
We, the Board of Commissioners of Grant County, voice our support for Sam
Krautscheid to the Washington State Farm Service Agency Board. A lifelong Grant County
farmer and local Ag Retail owner, Sam has shown his commitment to Agriculture in a
number of ways. He has served for over twenty years on the County Farm Bureau Board and
is a past President on the County level. He is also a member of the Grant County VSP group.
He was very active from the beginning of this group to make sure Agriculture maintains its
voice on the state level. Sam still attends annual follow-up meetings for the group. Sam has
also shown commitment at the County level by being elected to serve by his peers as an FSA
Grant County Committee Member where he currently serves.
Sam has also shown a passion for helping keep neighbors alert of local theft of Grant County
Farmers. He convened a meeting with local producers, judges, prosecutors, Sheriff's Office,
and us as the Commissioners to help try to find solutions. Out of this meeting, he built, and
still monitors to this day, a Facebook Account called Grant County Farmers on Patrol. The
page is used for farmers to post current thefts so neighbors can look for those things or
beware of the types of thefts occurring locally. The Sheriff s Office now has a number of
employees who monitor this page to help with the crime that is occurring.
