Re: Request for New Funds —143 Historical Preservation
We would like to request a New fund be established for Historical Preservation, previously under
Current Expense and Department # 135. A separate fund is needed to properly track the fund balance
related to these fees. We recommend the Fund #143 (Previously unused). To establish the Fund, we
will need to transfer $248,185 from Current Expense. This is our best estimate of the amount that
should be in the funds based on the amounts collected and spent since 2008. The Budget for this
Department for 2025 is $14,000. We do not anticipate a budget extension for these funds.

Surcharge for preservation of historical documents —Distribution of revenue to county and state treasurer —Creation of account.
(1)(a) Except as provided in (b) of this subsection, a surcharge of five dollars per instrument shall be charged by the county auditor for each document recorded„ which
will be in addition to any other charge authorized by law. One dollar of the surcharge shall be used at the discretion of the county, commissioners to promote historical
preservation or historical programs, which may include preservation of historic documents.

RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE RESOLUTION No. 25- 0 °' ?-CC
CREATION OF A NEW FUND TITLED
"HISTORICAL PRESERVATION" #143.
WHEREAS, it has been called to the attention of the Board of County Commissioners
that a new fund #143 titled "Historical Preservation" should be created; and
WHEREAS, the creation of said fund and transfer of monies into this fund may be
accomplished without a public hearing pursuant to state and county budget laws; and
WHEREAS, this newly created fund is to be used only for Historical Preservation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF GRANT COUNTY, STATE OF WASHINGTON that
this fund is hereby created and established as listed above and the Grant County Auditor and the
Grant County Treasurer are hereby directed to establish this fund in their respective offices. The
Grant County Treasurer is directed to invest all funds relating to this newly established fund for
the benefit of the fund.
