SUBJECT: Public Hearing to Consider Applications for Directors — Sections 2 and 4
Dear Commissioners:
A public hearing was held on November 21, 2024, to consider applications to determine the
nominations for the positions of Director for Section 2 and Director for Section 4 of the Noxious
Weed Control Board of Grant County. Minutes of the hearing are enclosed.
Application for Director of Section 2 was received from Summer Sahli.
Application for Director of Section 4 was received from Alexya Connors.
The Noxious Weed Control Board of Grant County unanimously recommends that Summer
Sahli be submitted as nominee for Director of Section 2, and that Alexya Connors be submitted
as nominee for Director of Section 4. The completed applications for both candidates are
enclosed.
The enclosed Public Notice will be posted at the Grant County Courthouse today. The nominees
will also be advertised in the Columbia Basin Herald.

To Consider Applications for Directors — Sections 2 and 4

Minutes
The hearing was called to order at 10:04 a.m. by Gary Sieg, Hearing Officer for the Noxious
Weed Control Board of Grant County. The hearing was held at the Bureau of Reclamation
building, 32 C Street NW, Room 304B, Ephrata, Washington, and remotely via Webex.

The hearing was held in accordance with RCW 17.10.050 to consider applications to determine
the nominations for the positions of Director for Section 2 and Director for Section 4 of the
Noxious Weed Control Board of Grant County.
Section 2 covers the portion of Grant County lying northerly and westerly of Interstate 90, State
Highway 283 and State Highway 17 N to Alkali Lake.
Section 4 covers the portion of Grant County lying westerly of Highway 17, southeasterly of
Highway 283 and Interstate 90 and northerly of the Frenchman Hills.
The Director terms for Sections 2 and 4 will begin March 1, 2025. Each voting member of the
Board serves a term of four years.
All persons interested in appointment to the Board and residing in the geographical area with the
pending nomination were required to make a written application, to include the signatures of at
least ten registered voters residing in the geographical area supporting the nomination.

Following this hearing, the Noxious Weed Control Board of Grant County will send the
applications received to the county legislative authority, recommending the names of the most
qualified candidates. The names of the nominees will also be posted in the Grant County
Courthouse and published in the Columbia Basin Herald.
Within 60 days of receiving the list of nominees, the county legislative authority will appoint one
of the nominees for each expiring term on the county noxious weed control board.
Application for Director of Section 2 was received from Summer Sahli.
Trish said that an application for Director of Section 4 is in process for Alexya Connors and will
be submitted within the next few days.
The hearing was opened for public comment and there was none.
A motion was made by Wes Sieg, seconded by Ron Tebow, and carried to submit the name of
Summer Sahli to the county legislative authority as nominee for director of Section 2. Chuck
Sandmann was available by phone and voted yes on the motion.
A,motion was made by Wes Sieg, seconded by Summer Sahli, and carried to submit the name of
Alexya Connors to the county legislative authority as director for Section 4.
The hearing was adj ourned at I O-P 12 a.m.
