SUBJECT: Request for Out of State Travel, Training for the new
Western Star 49X Truck
Grant County Public Works is receiving a new Western Star 49X truck in 2024. This
truck in an entirely new platform from the trucks Public Works has been purchasing
since 2003. The changes are a new frame, suspension, cab, transmission, vehicle
electronic controls, and- engine controls. This tour will include speaking with the
engineers along with seeing firsthand how the trucks are assembled and how that
affects the upfitting and repair of the trucks. This training will be alongside truck
dealers and other government agencies such as Stevens County. This will be
valuable training for the technicians who work on the trucks. The following people
will attend the training:
