OFFENDER/DIVERSION: Currently, all civil and criminal proceedings are conducted through WebEx, with in-person court hearings exclusively reserved for Dispositions and Trials. Within the Offender Unit, there are currently 264 cases, 152 of which fall under the category of Diversion. Give JR Freeze update. ii. TRUANCY: Currently, there are 146 active petitions with a total of 202 stays in effect. Throughout the current school year, 271 stays have been filed, 87 stays have been lifted, and 74 cases of contempt of court have been filed. Additionally, there are 85 extended stays, and 257 cases have been dismissed this school year. DEPENDENCY: The dependency unit is conducting regular docket hearings, offering the flexibility of participation through WebEx or in person. As of now, our dependency unit manages a total of 149 active cases. Among these, 103 are assigned to staff, 41 cases are delegated to volunteers, and 5 cases are actively monitored. The monitored cases, while still active, involve individuals with legal representation, eliminating the necessity for a Guardian ad Litem (GAL). 4) Chelan: I maintain bi-weekly meetings with Chelan to collaboratively address any emerging issues. The Chelan Juvenile Court Administrator is currently negotiating a contract to extend our partnership with them for an additional three years, despite our current contract not expiring until December 2025. The Chelan Commissioners have indicated that to justify the purchase of a new van for transportation, they need assurance that we will remain with them for at least the next three years to avoid financial losses associated with the van purchase. Currently, they are borrowing the Chelan County jail van, particularly for Monday transports when we have court. Consequently, I anticipate receiving a new contract proposal soon. 5) Administration: We recently posted the position for Family & Juvenile Court Coordinator this past Monday. The position will be open for two weeks, both externally and internally, and we aim to have the hiring process completed by September 2, 2024. 6) Needs of the Department: Facilities and Maintenance assisted us in relocating all our staff from the Moses Lake office to accommodate the Veterans Affairs. Remodeling is scheduled to begin between this week and next week. We successfully replaced our copier and scanner machine at the Ephrata office. The previous machine, being over 10 years old, was experiencing issues and could no longer be repaired, with parts becoming increasingly difficult to source. Consequently, a replacement was recommended in coordination with IT, as the machine fell under the quad. The next step is to replace our Moses Lake copier/printer, as both machines were purchased simultaneously.
