When we purchased the Lifeproof Boat in 2021, it came with a 6000 lb. axle trailer. That trailer is missing some key components we need daily. The suspension for the trailer is in the axle, and there are no leaf springs. We have had at least two situations where a wheel has broken off because the bearing went bad. The bearings are covered under warranty, but we are pushing the limit on the trailer when the boat is carrying a whole load of fuel (100 gallons), plus the other equipment needed on the boat plus the supplies the operator brings with him for the day. We would like to purchase a new trailer with a bigger payload. The trailer would be equipped with 7000 1b. axles, a ladder to get in and out of the boat when loading and unloading, and leaf spring suspension. Most Lifeproof Boats are built and launched in a body of water and kept in the water most of the year. Grant County has the most freshwater coastal miles in the state of Washington. We are always loading and unloading the boat and traveling miles in between bodies of water. We plan to use our Vessel Registration Fund account to purchase the new trailer. The account has more than $80,000 in it and Once the new trailer is purchased, we will attempt to surplus/sell the old trailer. Page:1 Quote Customer P.O. Grant County Central Services POBox 37 Ephrata WA 98823 (509) 754-2011 Ext -3276 July 1, 2024 We held a bid opening for an approved capital project at the fairgrounds. The approved budget was $185,000, and the contractor's total cost was $107,659.00. We identified other areas that could be repaired or newly paved and some work that needed to be completed because our Public Works Department was removing the existing racetrack. Eastside Asphalt provided pricing for six areas that we identified for improvement. • Grading east of the rodeo area where the track was taken out, leaving very uneven grounds and hazards for patrons and staff. • Five new speed bumps to control traffic flow. • Entrance pads at six barns, making the cleaning of the barns safer and more efficient. • Repair of deteriorating areas of Green Gate Drive. • Patches to asphalt behind the Ardell arena. • Replacement of the paved area between specific food booths that had cracked, become unlevel and contained trip hazards for patrons. All these changes will be completed, and we remain below the budget of $185,000. These changes will make noticeable improvements for patrons, staff, and anyone who accesses the fairgrounds. After discussing with two of the three commissioners, we provided a notice to proceed to Eastside Asphalt for all changes. Central Services thanks the Board of County Commissioners for supporting these improvements, and this letter intends to record their approval of the work.
