HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 24-042-CCBOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Grant County, Washington RESOLUTION No. 24- Oqt` CC RESOLUTION RESCINDING AND REPLACING RESOLUTION NO. 16 -206 - CC AND ESTABLISHING SALARY LEVELS FOR CERTAIN GRANT COUNTY ELECTED OFFICIALS 'WHEREAS, states, "The county legislative authority of each county or a county commissioner or council, member salary commission which conforms to RCW 36.17.024 is authorized to establish the salaries of the elected officials of the county"; and WHEREAS, Resolution N'utnber 16 -206 -CC establishes salary levels for the County Commissioners; and WHEREAS, RCW 36.17.020 establishes the salary of the Elected Prosecutor RCW 36.17.020 states "The state of Washington shall contribute an amount equal to one-half the salary of a superior court judge towards the salary of the elected prosecuting attorney. Upon receipt of the state contribution—, a county shall continue to contribute towards the salary of the elected prosecuting attorney in an amount that equals or exceeds that contributed by the county in 2008"; and WHEREAS, The Washington Citizens' Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials (WCCSEO) establishes the Superior Court Judge's Salaries, of which 50% is paid by Washington State and 50% is paid by the county; and WHEREAS, The 'Washington Citizens Commission on salaries for elected officials establishes The District Court Judge's Salaries; and WHERAS, the Board of County Commissioners desires to set the salaries of the remaining elected offices of Grant County in a consistent and equitable manner; and WHERAS, the Board of County Commissioners identifies that there are non -elected position whose salary should be correlated to that of Elected Officials. 1. Since this action is authorized under the authority of the Board of County Commissioners, the salary for County Commissioner will be impacted at the commencement of the next term of office, January 1, 2027, for each district regardless of current term. Resolution 1.6 -206 -CC is repealed for all Commissioner Districts effective January 1., 2027. 2. All other positions will receive the compensation level identified in this resolution beginning 07/01/23 and at the first day of July each year moving forward. 3. The salary of the elected offices and tied positions listed below will be established in . the following manner: Elected Official Salary Standard Superior Court Judge 100% of the salary set by the Washington Citizen's Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials (WCCSEO) for Superior Court Judges. The County pays 50% and the State pays 50%. Superior Court Commissioner 83.5% of the salary for Superior Court Judge by the WCCSEO District Court Judge 100% of the salary set by the Washington. Citizen's Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials (WCCSEO) for District Court Judges. District Court Commissioner 83.5% of the salary for District Court Judge by the WCCSEO County Prosecuting Attorney 100% of the salary set for Superior Court Judges by the WCCSEO. The County pays 50% and. the State pays 50%. Chief Deputy Prosecutor The Prosecuting Attorney can establish a unique wage scale for this position, which must be documented. in Human Resources. The top step may not be higher than 75% of the salary set for Superior Court Judges by the WCCSEO Public Defense Director 100% of the salary set for Superior Court Judges by the WCCSEO Supervising Public Defender The Public Defense Director can establish a unique wage scale for this position, which must be documented in Human. Resources. The top step may not be higher than 75% of the salary set for Superior Court Judges by the WCCSEO County Assessor 51.5% of the salary set for Superior Court Judges by the WCCSEO County Auditor 51.5% of the salary set for Superior Court Judges by the WCCSEO County Clerk 51.5% of the salary set for Superior Court Judges by the WCCSEO County Commissioner 53% of the salary set for Superior Court Judges by the WCCSEO County Coroner 51.5% of the salary set for Superior Court Judges by the WCCSEO County Sheriff 63% of the salary set for Superior Court Judges by the WCCSEO or 6% higher than the salary set for the Undersheriff, whichever amount is higher. The salary will be adjusted for July 1't and not for mid -year changes unless specifically peel ically directed by the Board. County Treasurer 51.5% of the salary set for Superior Court Judges by the WCCSEO 4. Prior to the effective date communicated by the WCCSEO, Human Resources will provide written direction to Payroll for the update of salary for impacted elected positions. S.
