This year, the fairgrounds saw unexpected maintenance costs and inflationary prices in goods and services that
have caused the fairgrounds maintenance budget to be over-extended and require a budget extension.
Due to unanticipated maintenance on the maintenance vehicles (gators) totaling more than $12,000, costs for
repairs to the bobcat and JCB telehandler totaling over $11,000, and repairs to the Harwood fire suppression
system, we have unanticipated repairs totaling $29,045.28.
Custodial supplies saw unanticipated increases, and the supply for the new 4H bathroom has been considerably
higher than expected, causing us to reconfigure that bathroom to utilize different supplies than were designed.
The fairgrounds also dealt with equipment supplies that failed early in their lifespan, requiring replacement
before the expected lifecycle for such parts was complete.
Central Services is requesting a budget extension for $25,000 to bolster the following budget lines in the
fairground's maintenance budget,
001. 112.000.000.573703101
001.112.000.000.573703132
00 1. 112.000.000.5 73 704804
We plan to increase these levels in our 2024 budget request to anticipate better the rising costs within these
industries and for anticipated repairs for aging equipment. Please note that some equipment was surplus when
we received it and is well past its useful life. (JCB)
Respectfully submitted. JAPPROVED
