Request to award Sidewalk Proj dist # RE: Request for Budget Extension Dist #3tDist#3 Dist # 3 Central Services performed a formal bid for the replacement of sidewalks around the Courthouse campus. This includes the entire perimeter of the Courthouse from C Street to E Street. This is a large project that encompasses the replacement of the most of our sidewalks that had not yet been completed, five driveways, and ADA approaches at all corners which we do not currently have. After this project we would only have two more sidewalks to complete that border parking lot "B" and would also need to include more tree removal. We were awarded a budget of $125,000 for this project. My budget number came from a local contractor we have worked with in the past. The company that provided help in my budgeting did not bid on the project. We did receive three bids, the lowest responsible bid was from Fergusson concrete of Royal City WA. Including sales tax, their bid was $187,657.75. The other bids were from All Star construction Group of West Richland WA. And Stan's Construction of Moses Lake WA. This leaves us with multiple options. 1. Reduce the amount of sidewalk to reduce the cost but we would then need to repeat this process next year to complete all of the sidewalks. We do have more sidewalk to repair but it would only add to the expected capital requests next year and the price could be higher at that point. 2. Reject all of the bids as they were not within the anticipated budget the County set forth for the project. 3. Request a budget extension to complete the project in its entirety. The Overall budget extension would be $74,857.00 however, Central Services can utilize funds from other capital projects that we can defer. In total we can utilize $27,101.40. This funding is left over from the duct cleaning project at Youth Services (C.E Funds) and funds from R.E.E.T for electrical repairs that we can wait to perform. We also did not originally plan on replacing all of the trees and that cost is also built into the costs of the sidewalk project. This would make the budget extension total $47,755.60. With the Boards permission, Central Services would like to move forward with option three, the budget' extension and complete this project this year. Leaving only a small project to complete next year.
