SIP #2020-3: Port of EMS Helipad Construction (requested $55,000 grant)
Applicant: Port of Warden /
Recommendation: The committee voted to recommend a $53,813 grant for the Port of Warden
regarding the need for a Helipad to accommodate the EMS. The committee recommended the reduced
amount due to the bid the Port of Warden provided. This project will help the safety and well being of
the current employeers and citizens and also help lower insurance costs for current employers. This
service is also important in recruiting new companies/projects in the area. The Port of Warden is
currently working with one such project that inquired about EMS.

GRANT COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Recommendation: The committee voted to recommend a $61,000 grant for the City of Warden
regarding their need for a truck parking facility. These funds would help facilitate the planning and
design of a new commercial truck parking facility which will provide designated off-street parking and
amenities for the vehicles and their drivers. This will give a facility for new trucking businesses to start
up. This will also reduce the adverse effects of overweight vehicles on under rated streets in the city and
will decrease opportunities for vandalism and theft of vehicles. By parking the trucks in the new area
this will also remove the vehicles from downtown and the central business area lending to a better
opportunity to attract businesses and visitors.
Motion made by Curt Morris, seconded by Scott Hunter passed with unanimous vote.
