RE: New Technology Services Position
Central Services respectfully requests the Boards authorization to create and hire a new position under
Central Services performing a special project directly supporting the County's desire to reach its goal in
the area of archiving and work flow efficiencies for the County as a whole.
This position is needed as we do not have the dedicated support required to efficiently train, support and
create self-sufficiency with the various departments in the County using the Laserfiche program. This
program is large, dynamic, complex, and requires a large amount of ones time to create work flows, train
staff, and provide the support to help County Offices become self-sustaining in their own Laserfiche goals.
The new position will be a in the area of "Application Support" increasing the Technology Services
budget approximately $45,000-$55,000 per year. I am currently working with Human Resources and
Technology Services on the exact job description and salary range.
It is anticipated to be a 12-16 month project. There will be milestones during the length of the project and
regular reviews of progress. At the end of the 16 months (maximum time allowable) Central Services
through consultation with the Board will decide if the value expected has been received. At that time we
will exercise the option of either extending the project, cancelling the project, or providing a full time
non -project position to the individual performing the work.
It is the desire of Central Services that the individual be absorbed into the Technology Services
department at the end of the term and continue to train departments and staff on the administration of this
program and others as required. This is a new position and it will in the end be a permanent increase to
the staff of Technology Services.
As we continue to modernize our technology and keep up with its changing landscape it is increasingly
apparent we need to provide the ability to directly support a number of programs the County has. This
will provide the foundation for doing this and Central Services asks the Board to approve this new
position Dated this _ I, il'11day of ` (A tw 20ZO
