The Grant County Health and Wellness Committee (HWC) would like to make a recommendation concerning
retirement benefits offered to Grant County Employees.
The HWC has had many discussions regarding retirement benefits throughout the last year. As discussions
between HR and the BOCC have progressed, the HWC was asked to provide input on retirement benefits and
if Grant County should continue to offer them or decide to focus on the current employees.
A ballot was sent out on November 12th asking for a vote. There were 16 ballots returned, 9 in favor of
dropping coverage of benefits for retirees and 7 in favor of keeping the current coverage. Due to some
confusion as to the detail of what the vote was actually pertaining to, an additional ballot was sent out on
December 1011, 2019 asking for a clarified vote. There were 16 ballots returned, I I in favor of dropping
coverage of benefits for retirees and 5 in favor of keeping the current coverage. Therefore, the HWC would like
to recommend that Grant County drop coverages offered to retirees starting in the 2020 benefit year.
Please let me know if you have additional questions or would like additional details.
Respectfully,
Brittany M. Rang
