Re: 2020 Fairground rates — Reasons and thoughts behind rates
Dee Dee and I are rethinking some of the ways we rent our facilities. We are the cheapest and
most robust offering in a three -county area so we have some flexibility. We want to be
affordable but at the same time, recoup our costs more effectively.
One area that we realize is a dire need is cleaning. Every renters idea of cleaning is different and
we usually have to follow up with cleaning. This takes staff away from other projects that are
more pressing. We can't force the events already booked so we came up with a cleaning option
for existing events and a forced option for future events. This way we can assure our facilities
are always clean. The additional pricing is based on two quotes we received from local cleaning
companies.
We are also proposing some winter rates for holiday parties and plan to do some marketing
around this.
We are also proposing raising our admission rental rates. We should make more money if
promoters are using our facilities to make money. Often these events take more setup time.
We also added cleaning fees to some of these rentals.
Security and stall rates are proposed to go up due to the minimum wage increase.
Increase camping rates by $5 per day to fund a campground host. This past weekend my guess
is we lost more than $1000 due to wrong rates paid or some not paying at all. Having a seasonal
host whom we provide a spot with power, water and sewer with a small stipend will increase
our intake of camping fees.
The last rate increase that needs more explanation is the setup rate. Many of our events take
several days to set up. During that time we cannot rent out the facilities and our staff is
responding to requests. We propose a $175 setup day rate.
