11:31 a.m. The Commissioners held an Open Record Public Hearing Ordinance repealing and
replacing Ch. 9.07 of the Grant County Code titled "Potentially Dangers Dog Control and
Dangerous Dog Registration" (continued from March 19, 2019).
Kevin McCrae, Chief Civil Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, stated that this ordinance update was
requested by the Grant County Sheriff's Office to match the City of Moses Lake's code and be
more consistent throughout the county. Disallows dangerous dogs in the county, creates
conditions for keeping potentially dangerous dogs (registration and kenneling requirements),
updates of fines and fees, updates condition for rabies, quarantines and impounding dogs. Mr.
McCrae recommends approval of this amendment.
Kate Mathews, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, reiterated that any dangerous dogs found in the
county will have to be removed or put down.
A motion was made by Commissioner Stevens, seconded by Commissioner Carter to close the
public comment portion of the hearing. The motion passed unanimously. Commissioner Carter
moved to adopt the ordinance as presented. Commissioner Stevens seconded and the motion
passed unanimously. The hearing adjourned.
