Advisory Committee — Project Review/Recommendations
Dear Commissioners:
The SIP Committee met Friday, February 1st and reviewed 1 project applications. Committee
members present for the meeting were Kathy Bonet and Brant Mayo. Members absent with
project recommendations were Cathy Potter, Wes Crago, Curt Morris, and Scott Hunter. Tony
Massa was absent with no recommendations.
SIP #2019-1: New Fire Station in Trinidad/Crescent Bar (requested $250,000)
Applicant: Grant County Fire District #3
Recommendation: The committee voted to recommend a $125,000 grant for Grant County Fire
District #3. In 2018 the committee encouraged the Fire District to apply again in January 2019 and
make a stronger case for the impact this facility will have on businesses in the immediate and
surrounding areas. The applicant came back with a strong case for the impact on economic
development we were looking for.
Recommendation: The committee voted to recommend a $125,000 grant for Grant County Fire
District #3. We encourage the Fire District to apply again in January 2019 and make a stronger
case for the impact this facility will have on businesses in the immediate and surrounding areas.
We believe this is a great project and the case was made for around the residents in the area and
we feel this would be a stretch for the committee to recommend funding on this premise. There
was a smaller case made for a few businesses and the committee also took in the impact on
tourism and future business growth, this allowed us to recommend the $125,000.
In summary the committee recommends the following funding:
0 #2019-1: Grant County Fire District #3: Recommend $125,000 grant
Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the recommendations of the committee.
Sincerely,
Brant Mayo
