The request is to purchase Guardian RFID. Our current system, Guard 1, was implemented in 2016 and the system is outdated. Guard 1 provides limited information and does not document the type of inmate contact or track any movement. Guardian RFID provides a state-of-the-art tracking system that better identifies all inmates with wrist bands and gives us the ability to properly document all inmate contacts. This amount will include the leasing option of $41,102.00 followed with an annual system renewal fee of $16,944.00. It is my intent to use the available funds in the Machinery and Equipment account 112.154.00.0000.594236400 to cover this cost. The Guardian RFID is a sole source provider for this type of system.
