Re: Request For Approval, Youth Services Moses Lake Furnace Replacement
Dear BOCC,
This year it was identified in the Capital Forecast software that the furnace at the Youth Services
Facility at 1008 Ivy St in Moses Lake was due for replacement. Four heating and air
conditioning contractors were contacted to supply bids to replace the system. Of the four
contractors, Basin Refrigeration and Heating bid the lowest cost of $8952. This cost includes
labor, controls, permits, electrical, new pad for the AC condenser and ductwork to make changes
to get the furnace up to current clearance codes. The current system is too close to the gas meter
and not positioned in the mechanical room for compliant access.
The estimated cost for replacement of the furnace, $2400, was low due to not accounting for
these changes and changing the AC coil at the same time. There are funds available in interior
improvements account that have been reallocated to Central Services and I am requesting that
funding be allowed to be used to cover the remaining cost of this project.
$2400 of the project would be paid from 126.168.00.9112.5183 03 564, Furnace Youth Services
Moses Lake, and the remaining $7304.00, tax has-been included in this cost, be paid from the
interior improvement's funds.
In is my opinion that Grant County should replace this system and therefore I am requesting
permission from the Grant County Board of Commissioners to proceed.
Sincerely,
